Cumberland Run prepares to open

Corbin, KY — The 2023 Cumberland Run meet is only a little over a month away. This year’s meet will be held at Cumberland Run located in Corbin, Ky.

The meet will be from Oct. 15 through Nov. 7. Racing will be conducted each Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with a 1 p.m. post time.

Condition sheets will be online this week. The purse structure has a minimum purse of $8,000 and a top end purse of $20,000. The entry box will close on Tuesday for Sunday, Wednesday for Monday and Thursday for Tuesday. The entry box will close each draw day at 9 a.m. Driver changes will be due the next day after the draw by 10 a.m.

The 2023 meet will include Kentucky Sires Stake races for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds. All will be one leg and a final. The 2- and 3-year-olds will compete for $30,000 in the legs with a $70,000 final. The 4-year-olds will have a $35,000 leg and a $70,000 final.

There will also be Mini Series for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds to be raced the opposite weeks of the Sires Stakes. These will go for $12,500 and a $25,000 final. The Mini Series are open for any horses and not restricted to Kentucky eligibles.

Horses will be able to stable at the Red Mile and make the ship to Cumberland Run daily.
