Discus Hanover, Northern Rein take features at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Discus Hanover (Truman Gale) and Northern Rein (Steeven Genois) won the co-featured $7,700 Open events at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 21).

Discus Hanover ($10.40) took advantage of a perfect trip to win the $7,700 Open Trot.

Credit List (Justin Huckabone) went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :27.2 as Discus Hanover tucked in the pocket. Credit List used a :30.1 second quarter to breeze to the half :57.3. Bourbon Express (Howard Okusko Jr.) was the first to make a move, going first-over around the final turn, but Credit List shook him off and maintained the lead to three-quarters in 1:26.4. As they reached the stretch, Discus Hanover popped the pocket, and the race was on. Discus Hanover blew right on by and won easily in 1:55.1. Jenny Lake (Steeven Genois) came up to get second; Credit List had to settle for third.
