Oak Harbor, OH — The Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor, Ohio kicked off its two-day meet with ten races on Monday (July 20).

Yankees Acomin (Yankee Cruiser-Yankee Mist) won the first division of the 2-year-old filly pace in 2:05.3. Custer Stables pays the bills on Yankees Acomin with John Schuberg doing the training and Greg Bateson performing the driving chores. Robert and Randall Hutchison’s On A Gamble (On The Attack-Enchantingly Shady) took the second split in 2:04.1 for trainer-driver Duke Sugg.

CC Dancer (Trainforthefuture-Attitude Dance) captured the first of three divisions of the 2-year-old filly trot in 2:09.2. Ryan Stahl drove the filly for owner Chuck Campbell and trainer Rob Harmon. Jeff Batt’s Big Mama Gerdie (Jailhouse Jesse-Gutsy Gerdie) came home first in the second division in 2:12.2. Jim Mulinix trains Big Mama Gerdie with Mark Headworth picking up the winning drive. Trainer-driver Larry Rheinheimer found the winner’s circle in the third split with Ilikeher Charm (Ilooklikemymom-Charmin) in 2:10.4. Michael Collins picks up the expenses on Ilikeher Charm.

Curly Top (Emile Angus-Platinum Plus) crossed the finish line first in 2:05.3 for owner-trainer-driver Jerry Lighthill in the first division of the 3-year-old filly trot. Mark Headworth piloted Cindora (Emile Angus-Cinder Madalyn) to victory in the second division in 2:05.2 for owner-trainer Jim Mulinix.

The Bill Webb-trained First To Cruise (Yankee Cruiser-First To Stand) took the first split of the 3-year-old filly pace. Mark Headworth drove the filly with D and K Stables LLC being the owner. Headworth also steered the second division winner, Sam’s Shuffle (Nobleland Sam-Lady Shuffle). Jim Mulinix trains Sam’s Shuffle for owner DM Stables LLC. Both divisions of the 3-year-old filly pace went in 2:00.

G. B. Reddin’s This Sands Hot won the Gordon Witty Trot for the second consecutive year. Trainer-driver John Konesky III guided the 6-year-old gelding to a mile in 2:03.1. The Gordon Witty Trot is a part of the Signature Series.
