Father Patrick fee discounted for COVID hardships

Georgetown, KY – The Father Patrick Syndication has announced a reduction of his 2021 stud fee from $25,000 to $17,500 in response to the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that have been endured by breeders, owners, trainers and others in the harness racing industry.

Following is a statement from Adam Bowden of Diamond Creek Farm on the reduction of Father Patrick‘s 2021 stud fee

2020 has been an unprecedented challenge to all of us: breeders, trainers and owners alike. With the yearling and mixed sales being down by as much as 30 percent in some areas, racetracks being forced to cut opportunities and purses being trimmed; breeders and buyers alike are being forced to make hard choices. It would be foolish for us not to think COVID-19 has affected you in some way. Given that, I wish to inform you that the Father Patrick Syndication has voted to lower the 2021 stud fee from $25,000 to $17,500. Any mares already booked to Father Patrick will be rebooked automatically at the new fee. I am so proud to be part of a syndication who understand the big picture and are putting the horse first and not the almighty dollar.

Instead of business as usual, we want to reach out a helping hand and are glad to offer breeders an excellent value for their stud fee dollar. This is our way to give back to the breeders who have been supporting the horse, as well as a way to encourage those being forced to otherwise make cuts due to the current climate.

In 2020, Father Patrick reached new milestones with millionaire and Breeders Crown winner Amigo Volo plus the debut syndication of the highly touted Greenshoe. Greenshoe‘s star studded full books continue to flatter Father Patrick as well as the emergence of top 3-year-old fillies Crucial, Panem, and Sister Sledge. Father Patrick ended the year ranked #2 in overall earnings by 3-year-olds, behind only Muscle Hill as well as #2 by average earnings per starter. He continues to give you an opportunity to hit a homerun.

We believe in the quality of his foal crops of 2020 and 2021. The stage is set for even more champion sons and daughters. His best bred crop are due to foal in 2021 and I am personally confident in Father Patrick and what he has in the pipeline.
