Horse racing hearing Saturday at Prairie Meadows

Columbus, OH — Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa will hold a public hearing from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, to gauge reaction to the Racing Committee’s recommendation for the 2010 racing season.

The five-person committee has proposed having a 56-day Thoroughbred season, followed by a 30-day quarter horse meet and no harness racing.

This year, Prairie Meadows offers a 50-day Thoroughbred meet, followed by a 32-day combined Thoroughbred-quarter horse season and a 16-day harness meet.

The hearing will be at The Meadows Events Center at the north end of the casino.
