Indian Hill Rocket remained perfect in 2008 after taking the $14,000 Open Handicap Trot on Monday in 1:56.

Driven from post five by Kevin Wallis, Indian Hill Rocket settled comfortably in the pocket as odds-on favorite Gale Warning (Wally Hennessey) was parked through an opening quarter in :28.3, before clearing to the front to carve out middle fractions of :57.4 and 1:27.1.

Gale Warning entered the lane with a 1-1/2 length advantage, but was quickly engaged by Indian Hill Rocket, who was angled off the pylons in mid-stretch and wore down the leader, trotting clear in the final yards to post a 1-1/4 length victory.

Indian Hill Rocket returned $6.80, $3.20, and $2.40 for the victory. Gale Warning brought in $2.60 and $2.10 for second, while the veteran trotter Dunkster (Bill O’Donnell) paid $2.60 for third.

Owned by Yvette Prudenzano and Basil Kellis, and trained by Linda Wallis, Indian Hill Rocket is a 6-year-old son of Corleone, out of the Arnies Exchange mare Ruby Exchange. The gelding is a 20-time winner through 55 lifetime starts, with career earnings of $160,950.

Hennessey moves closer to milestone

Wally Hennessey provided the winning drive behind Scoot To Victory ($6.80) in the evening’s second race, scoring by a nose to tally his 6,997th career triumph and move closer to the 7,000-win plateau.

Hennessey is scheduled to drive nine horses on the Wednesday program at Pompano. First race post time for the 12-race mid-week card is 7:25 p.m.
