Driver Dexter Dunn decided on a change in strategy with 2-5 favorite Jack’s Legend N this week, racing the 7-year-old Bettor’s Delight gelding from off the pace — and it proved to be the winning strategy. Jack’s Legend N spotted pacesetter Mack eight lengths through a :26.4 first quarter and remained last through middle splits of :55.4 and 1:22.3 while Dorsoduro Hanover motored first-up to challenge Mack. At the top of the stretch, Dunn called upon Jack’s Legend N for pace, and he responded with a furious late kick off his third-over cover to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:50.4. Mack (Mike Cole) was a game second; Shoobee Doo A (Corey Callahan) closed to finish third.

Jack’s Legend, who paced his final half mile in :53.4, is owned by Rich Lombardo Racing LLC, David Kryway and trainer Josh Green. He paid $2.80 to win.

Racing at Dover Downs continues on Monday (Dec. 13); post time is 4:30 p.m.
