Kelley, Devaux sweep Saratoga co-features

Saratoga Springs, NY — Trainer Amanda Kelley and driver Jim Devaux teamed up to sweep both winners-over pacing events on the Saturday (March 18) card at Saratoga Casino Hotel, doing so with favorites Willie Go West N and Mach Le More A.

Willie Go West N, whom Kelley also owns, moved up into his $14,500 winners-over division off a victory in his U.S. debut two weeks ago, a race that saw him secure a wire-to-wire score in 1:52.4. The 7-year-old gelded son of Auckland Reactor drew post eight for his big test against strong competition, and Devaux found some early speed from him to land him in third in the early going. When Devaux gave Willie Go West N his cue approaching the half, the rising star powered impressively past his rivals before drawing away to again win in 1:52.4, equaling his the lifetime mark and returning $4.80 to his backers.

Mach Le More A, who drew the rail in the $15,525 second division after riding the pocket to a second-place finish last week, controlled his own destiny this week and set leisurely fractions before facing a stiff challenge in the stretch from pocket-sitting Hespoisedtopounce A (Matt Athearn). Mach Le More A dug in and survived a photo to score his second win of the year in 1:55.4. S&K Misfit Racing LLC owns the 8-year-old Mach Three gelding, who paid $3.00 to win.

Devaux also won with Control Tower ($4.20, 1:54.3), Six Degrees ($53.00, 1:53.4) and Vel Letsroll South ($3.80, 1:54.4), giving him five wins on the 11-race card.

Live racing at Saratoga continues on Sunday (March 19) with a pair of carryovers: $957 in the 50-cent Pick-5 (races 9-13) and $7,449 in the 20-cent Jackpot Hi-5, offered in the last race. First post is 12 noon.
