Maryland Sire Stakes 3-year-old prelims concluded at Ocean Downs

Berlin, MD — Nvrfearlloydishere scored his fourth straight victory, taking the first Maryland Sire Stakes division for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Friday (Aug. 7) at Ocean Downs.

The son of Rusty’s All In controlled all the fractions and defeated Who’s That Rascal in 1:55.4. Eddie Davis Jr. was between the wheels for owner-breeder Pamela Wagner and trainer Arlene Cameron.

The second division for pacing colts and geldings saw local horseman Bill Long send Tough Old Hickory (Rusty’s For Real) to a gate-to-wire 1:57.3 victory, finishing 1-3/4 lengths ahead of Franco. Long trains Tough Old Hickory for the Estate of Dale Massey.

In the first split for 3-year-old trotting fillies, reinsman John Wagner sent K J Deb (Lockkepper) out of the gate, taking air clear past the quarter before getting the lead from Callmegaga and opening up four lengths on the field to stop the timer in 1:59.2. Arlene Cameron trains for co-owner and breeder Scott Woogen and Pamela Wagner.

In the final preliminary for trotting fillies, Goodygoodytwoshoes (Googoo Gaagaa) overcame early interference and was sent by pilot Victor Kirby after leader Going Gaa Gaa, securing the front end by the 3/8 pole and opening up three lengths on the field to score in 2:01.1. Arlene Cameron owns and trains the winner; Ashley Lynn Rodeheaver is the breeder.

Ocean Downs will host all four Maryland Sire Stakes finals for 3-year-olds next Friday (Aug. 14). Standings will be available on the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund website.
