Maryland Sire Stakes prelims continue at the Ocean

Berlin, MD — On Monday (July 5) the 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings’ second leg preliminaries of the Maryland Sires Stakes went to post in the first race on a beautiful night at Ocean Downs.

Trents A Lock (Lockkeeper) scored his first win of the 2021 season by taking the lead by the half and holding off favorite Funnyfunnyriddle (Lockkeeper) in the 2:02.2 mile. John Wagner was in the bike and is also the trainer of Trents A Lock for owner/breeder Pam Wagner.

Two splits for the 3-year-old filly pacers went behind the gate as races three and five.

Reinsman Russell Foster pulled Ella’s A Treat (Cam’s Rocket) just past the half, closing on the leaders with every stride. She picked up her first lifetime win, finishing 1-1/2 lengths ahead of Intracoastal (Cam’s Rocket). Foster is the owner, Megan Foster trains and Roger Hans is the breeder of Ella’s A Treat. Time for the mile was 1:58.3.

Madisonsallin (Rusty’s All In) scored a wire-to-wire victory over Samantha’s All In (Rusty’s All In), stopping the clock in 1:57.3. The combination of John Wagner and Pam Wagner picked up their second stakes win of the night as driver/trainer and owner/breeder, respectively.

The second round of Maryland Sire Stakes continues on Wednesday (July 7). Ocean Downs will also host the Ostrich and Camel races after the fourth and seventh races that night.
