Plainville, MA – To say Memorynimagination is having a career year would be an understatement, and the 5-year-old gelding kept adding to his accolades after winning the $25,000 Open trot at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Oct. 8).

Memorynimagintaion (Matty Athearn) took the garden spot trip behind Kazio DK (Brett Beckwith), who cut the early part of the mile in :27.1, :56.2 and 1:25, while dealing with an outside attack from Stormont Divide (Bruce Ranger) through the middle half of the race. When the trotters entered the final turn, the entire field was within a length of Kazio DK, who was still in command by a length. But when the race straightened for home, Memorynimagination tipped off the pegs and bore down hard on Kazio DK. Memorynimagination kept closing ground and forged to the lead by a head and won in 1:54.1.
The 13th win of the year for Memorynimagination ($7.40) places him tied for fourth as the winningest trotter in North America regardless of age or gender. Eight of those 13 wins occurred at Plainridge Park, where he is the winningest and richest trotter of the meet.
As a result of his performances to date, Memorynimagination has now bankrolled $159,112 this year for owner Joe Trice and trainer Jimmy Nickerson.

In the undercard $20,000 upper-level conditioned trot, Wall Street Edge (Jay Randall) notched his sixth win of the year in a similar trip fashion. Wall Street Edge (Jay Randall) sat behind Feeling Optimistic (Jimmy Hardy) who posted very even quarters of :28, :56.4 and 1:25.1, with only a mild challenge from Caviart War Room (Brett Beckwith) at three-quarters. At the top of the stretch, Wall Street Edge tipped out and matched strides with Feeling Optimistic all the way down the stretch until he moved to the lead in the shadow of the wire and won by a quarter of a length in 1:54.4 to upset at 17-1.
Wall Street Edge ($37.80) is owned by Linda Kenney and Bob Kenney, who also trains the winner.
Drivers Matty Athearn and Nick Graffam both won three races on Thursday afternoon while trainer Jimmy Nickerson was a winner of two.
Racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Friday (Oct. 9) at 2 p.m.
