Miller rolls to pair of Buckeye Stallion Series wins

Grove City, OH — Brett Miller won two of the five Buckeye Stallion Series races for 3-year-old colt trotters Tuesday (May 2) at Miami Valley Raceway. Miller drove Burton’s Hill and Vondell Kemp to victory.

Burton’s Hill overcame a break at the quarter pole, rallied from ten lengths back, and won by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:57.1, the best time of the five BSS races. The son of What The Hill is trained by Virgil Morgan Jr. He won for the first time this year and raised his lifetime earnings to $90,009.

Miller’s other win came with Vondell Kemp who grabbed the lead at the three-quarter pole and held on to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:57.2. Trained by Tyler Bates, the What The Hill gelding has hit the board in seven of eight starts this year with two wins.

In the first Buckeye Stallion Series race on the card, Long Tom Jess with Don Irvine Jr. took the lead going to the half-mile pole and never looked back, winning by a half-length in 2:00.4. Trained by Rosy Weaver, the son of Long Tom picked up his first win of the year.

Senterprise with Dan Noble went gate-to-wire to pick up his maiden victory in 1:57.4. The Enterprise gelding is trained by Christi Noble.

The final Buckeye Stallion Series race of the night was won by Fiesty Sam in 1:57.2. Driven and trained by Matthew Brown, it was the first win of the year for the son of Victory Sam.

Buckeye Stallion Series action continues Wednesday night at Miami Valley with seven divisions of 3-year-old filly trotters. Each division will carry a purse of $20,000. First race post time is 4 p.m.
