Pompano Beach, FL — Pompano Park has extended the nomination date for its winter series of racing, with nominations for the $350,000 Isle of Capri Pacing Series, the $100,000 Frances Dodge Van Lennep Pacing Series for fillies and mares, and the $100,000 Mack Lobell Trotting Series to be received by Friday, January 25. Nominations were originally scheduled to close on January 22.

“There are many top-quality horses being sold at the Select Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands on January 21,” said Senior Director of Racing Operations Steve Wolf. “As a result, we wanted to offer new owners a few extra days to decide if they wanted to nominate to any of the three races offered as part of our winter series.

“With the Isle of Capri Pacing Series final to offer an increased purse of $250,000, and the Frances Dodge Van Lennep Series new to the racing calendar,” Wolf continued, “we are sure some owners will appreciate the extra days to decide if they want to spend part of their winter in South Florida.”

Nomination forms for each series can be found on the Pompano Park Web site at www.theislepompanopark.com, or are available via fax or mail by calling the Pompano Park Race Office at (954) 972-2000.

Purse increase for Red Bow Tie Invitational

Pompano officials also announced a purse increase for the Red Bow Tie Invitational for Florida-bred pacers. The race, to be contested on Saturday, March 8, will offer a purse of $65,000, which marks a $15,000 increase over previous editions.
