Le Massif (Steeven Genois) charges late to capture the $7,500 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Monday (Sept. 2).

Yogi Sheridan powered down the road and Tony Beltrami pounced at the right time to take their respective $7,500 divisions of the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (Sept. 1).

The Sunday night (Sept. 1) program at Running Aces featured lots of big performances and exciting finishes but topping the charts for the night was another huge winning effort from star sophomore trotter DP Freedoms Chrome (For You Almostfree) and driver James Gould.

The 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers highlighted the Labor Day weekend Maine Sire Stakes at Windsor Fair on Sunday (Sept. 1) with a pair of $19,000-plus divisions where the top horse in the division continued his winning ways. 

On Sunday (Sept. 1), Go Dog Go and Miki And Minnie downed the favorites in their respective divisions to collect triumphs in the $80,000 fourth leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series for freshman male trotters and pacing fillies.

The Menhammar-bred Fame and Glory (sired by Tactical Landing) hasn’t done much wrong in his racing career. On Sunday afternoon the finest victory to date came when Fame and Glory, trained by Timo Nurmos and with Björn Goop  in the bike, won the Swedish Trotting Derby over 3,140 meters or approximately 2 miles with a time of 1:56.2f.

Dawn Amiss’ homebred Fantastic Voyage responded to sustained late pressure from 1-2 favorite Lyons Stealth and prevailed narrowly in the final Open Handicap Pace of the 2024 Ocean Downs meet, recording a 1:52.1 win in Sunday’s (Sept. 1) $10,000 feature and giving driver Jared Moyer one of his three wins on the program.

There was no question that Shoobee Doo A was a speedy horse – he had had the lead at some point in eighteen consecutive races dating back to April, and while racing against the top-level claimers at Pocono this summer, he was a weekly frontend threat, with twelve victories and $116,890 on his 2024 card.
