Vernon, NY – Primo Uomo (Leon Bailey) and Discus Hanover (Ron Harp) grabbed the co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Oct. 12).
Primo Uomo ($3.90) captures the $8,500 Open Pace

Primo Uomo was first to the quarter in :27.3. He used a :29.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.4. Syracuse Express (Adam Capizzano) was the first to make a move but Primo Uomo led to three-quarters in 1:25.2
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Syracuse Express kept coming but Primo Uomo was too strong and won in by a half length in 1:53. Galactic Storm (Jimmy Whittemore) finished third.
Primo Uomo is a 4-year-old gelding by Heston Blue Chip. He is trained by David Dewhurst for owners Chris and Dale Lawton. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 23 career victories.
Discus Hanover ($5.30) charges late to take the $8,500 Open Trot

Seavenshotsobourbon (Tom Merton) was first to the quarter in :27.3. Raybarnz (Ivan Davies) took over and led to the half in :58. In A Tiny Way (John MacDonald) came first up to challenge going around the final turn. Raybarnz was first to three-quarters in 1:26.4.
As they reached the stretch, Discus Hanover came flying three-wide. Second-place finisher Raybarnz dug in but Discus Hanover got by to win by a head in 1:56. Seavenshotsobourbon finished third.
Discus Hanover is a 7-year-old gelding by Credit Winner. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his seventh win this season and his 48th career victory.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (Oct. 18) starting at 6:05 p.m.
