Propulsion, who is owned by the Zet Stable and trained by Daniel Redén, raced 210 times in 2019. He won six races – among them the Olympic Trot, Aby Stora Pris, and UET Trotting Masters.

The Horse of the Year title is decided by votes from Swedish harness racing journalists and a public vote, with each counting for 50 percent.  All other award winners were selected solely by harness racing journalists.

Among the other equine winners was Readly Express as older trotter.

In the human awards, Daniel Redén was named Trainer of the Year and for the ninth time and Ôrjan Kihlström was Driver of the Year.
