PV Miracle Mary, Rick Magee top Tuesday headlines at Running Aces

Columbus, MN — The Tuesday evening (July 30) program at Running Aces featured the weekly Mares Open Handicap Pace, with this week’s $16,000 edition going to post with a field of eight top distaffers, including PV Miracle Mary who charged home in :28.3 with a late inside burst to get up at the wire and win by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.4 with trainer/driver Rick Magee in the bike.

The feature win was one of five trips to the winner’s circle for Magee on Tuesday.

Delightfully Wild (Nick Roland) was sent hard from post seven and battled with Capitol Hill (Steve Wiseman) for the lead through the quick early panels (:27.3 and :56.3) before Dancingonthesand (Mooney Svendsen) made a menacing middle move to the front, and PV Miracle Mary took up the chase from first-over.

Dancingonthesand led them into the lane, but PV Miracle Mary was closing fast and angled to the inside, while Pull The Shade (Brady Jenson) was charging hard on the far outside and Alwaysalittlemore (Williams Hernandez) was gaining ground from mid-pack.

PV Miracle Mary ($6.80) was fastest to the wire to score her third win in ten starts this year for owner Joseph Casagranda, and the 6-year-old daughter of Dragon Again has now earned $101,048 lifetime with 22 career wins.

The other winners on the big night for Magee included 2-year-old gelding pacer Alright Frankie ($3.40) for his first pari-mutuel win; 4-year-old pacing mare Amasa Arion ($2.20) with a new career mark of 1:53.3; 4-year-old gelding My Muddy Buddy ($12.40), who paced in 1:57.2 for his second win of the season; and the classy 10-year-old pacing mare Place N First ($4.60), who picked up her 35th career tally in 1:55.1 for owner Jenni King, who had a perfect night of three winners from three starters.

Driver Steve Wiseman also turned in a big night of four winners on Tuesday, including two wins in the Minnesota-Sired 2-year-old trot events, and one win in the 2-year-old pace.

Wiseman steered trotting filly Foxy Talkin to her first career win (2:05.1) in the early non-wagering event and then piloted trotting gelding Heardyouwhispermynam ($8.20) to his first win in 2:00, both of those for owner Jenni King. Next up for Wiseman was a sharp win for the gelding Get My Good Side ($4.00) who paced to his first lifetime win in 2:00. Completing the grand slam for Wiseman was Timetoplaythegame ($5.40), a 6-year-old Badlands Hanover gelding who turned in a gate-to-wire performance in 1:53 for the fastest mile of the night.

Live racing returns to Running Aces on Saturday (Aug. 3) with local post time at 6 p.m. and features two carryovers: the 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot is now at $4,355.85, and the 50-cent Hi-5 has a carryover of $2,852.94.
