Riegle Memorial purse will be $30,000

Greenville, OH — The Darke County Agricultural Society is pleased to announce the ninth edition of the Gene Riegle Memorial will go for a purse of $30,000.

Also on Riegle Day is the Arnie Almahurst Trot that will be carded for $15,000.

Racing begins on Friday (Aug. 21) and Saturday (Aug. 22) with an 11 a.m. post featuring the Ohio Colt Racing Association 2- and 3-year-old Ohio bred stakes.

The meet will conclude on Thursday (Aug. 27) with an 11 a.m. post featuring the Gene Riegle Memorial Pace, the Arnie Almahurst Trot, the Dr. H. M. Parshall Memorial Open for 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters, the Annie Oakley Shoot Out featuring the Springhaven Ladies Driving Series, the Billings Amateur Trot and a Darke County owned and trained event.

As of now our Thursday and Friday sessions will be streamed live on Facebook courtesy of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. We are still hoping to work out details for Saturday’s races to be covered as well. Races will also be broadcast live for all three sessions on WTGR 97.5 Tiger Country and the audio will also be streamed live on www.wtgr.com.

While this year’s meet will be held without spectators, we are forever grateful to our faithful sponsors who stayed engaged with us this year to make our race meet go. We will miss the cheers from the crowd but everyone stay healthy and safe and we will be back bigger and better next year.
