SC to host Standardbred Wagering Conference

by Kathy Wade-Vlaar, for Standardbred Canada

Mississauga, ON — Standardbred Canada is pleased to announce that it will host the first ever Standardbred Wagering Conference at the Palais des Congress in Montreal from April 29 to May 1, 2008.

This conference, to be held in conjunction with the Canadian Gaming Summit, will focus exclusively on Standardbred wagering and is the only event in North America that will deal solely with the issue of Standardbred horse wagering. Regulators, operators, officials, participants and customers will be asked to come together to discuss concrete plans to develop and grow Standardbred wagering.

The conference kicks off with a full day of sessions on Tuesday, April 29, and continues for a half day on Wednesday, April 30, with various industry meetings in the afternoon. Delegates are invited and encouraged to stay for the final day of the Canadian Gaming Summit on Thursday, May 1.

Standardbred Canada’s revised Strategic Plan, recently approved at the Board of Directors’ meeting, identified the urgent need to address the continuing decline in Canadian Standardbred wagering and the Standardbred Wagering Conference will serve as a catalyst for the industry to address this issue.

SC is working with Media Edge Communications, the organizers of the Canadian Gaming Summit, to put together a first class agenda featuring a slate of international speakers that will bring industry stakeholders together to share ideas, insights and develop an action plan to address the decline in wagering.

Standardbred Canada is currently working on co-ordinating the agenda and seeks input from horseplayers, customers, and participants.
