Scarborough Downs cancels Monday racing

Scarborough, Maine — In anticipation of the major northeaster that has taken aim on the east coast states, Scarborough Downs has canceled Monday afternoon’s (April 16) harness racing card that was scheduled to go to post at 3:45 p.m. (EDT).

“The safety of our fans, horsemen and equine participants is our paramount concern,” said general manager Martina Mitchell. “We hate to lose a performance so close to the beginning of the meet, but Mother Nature has forced our hand. We plan to be right back on the track with our live product on Tuesday afternoon.”

The clubhouse facility will remain open on Monday for simulcast wagering.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness action every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday afternoon with first post scheduled for 3:45 p.m. with the popular Sunday matinee getting underway at 12:05 p.m. (EDT).
