Scarborough, ME — Scarborough Downs is pleased to host its biggest party of the year, the Kentucky Derby, simulcast live from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, May 3.

Called the most exciting two minutes in sports, this year’s Kentucky Derby features a 20-horse field, the largest to date, with a special Super Hi-5 Wager that enables participants to win a 2009 Mercedes Benz SL550.

Scarborough Downs kicks off the day with a special live harness racing post time of 2:00 p.m. The annual “Belle of the Derby” hat contest begins at 5:00 p.m., along with raffles for great prizes, including Cabela’s gear, other track apparel, and a Kentucky Derby coffee table book.

Henry the mini horse, who usually visits the track on Sundays, will also make a special appearance in the Grandstand to be a part of the festivities.

Over 200 reservations are already booked for The Downs Club, which will feature authentic Kentucky Derby mint juleps which patrons can order in a commemorative Derby 134 glass to keep, as well as dinner specials. The Derby goes to post at approximately 6:05 p.m.
