Shimie’s Score seeks revenge in Freehold trot

by Don Bielak, publicity director, Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Suheil Ashkar’s Shimie’s Score, a beaten 9-5 favorite in last week’s feature, will attempt to rebound in Thursday’s $4,900 conditioned trot at Freehold Raceway.

Shimie’s Score comes into Thursday’s main event off a second place finish behind Took The Call in that rival’s 2:011 victory a week ago. The 12-year-old Shimitar gelding has been a model of consistency and sports a 10-13-3 across the board record in his last 42 starts, and should not have to improve to any great extent to make amends.

Mark Beckwith will handle Shimie’s Score for trainer Dawn Anderson. The duo will leave the gate from post six as the 5-2 morning line favorite.

One that figures to give a good account of himself is Meadago Lavec. The five-year-old Mr Lavec ridgeling raced in a $4,900 conditioned trot at Freehold on New Year’s Day and finished third behind Boston Bambino in a 2:011 mile.

Meadago Lavec will open on the board as the 7-2 second choice in the early line and will start from post two. Trainer Bruce Lauer has named Jeff Gregory to drive.

Rozen, Balanced Portfolio, Jeans N Rings, Rose Street Rebel, SJ’s Dawning and Ringside Rocket complete the field.

First post for Freehold’s 11 race Thursday card is set for 12:30 p.m.
