Signature Series will be busy at the Richwood Fair

by Dave Schmidt, executive director, the Signature Series

Celina, OH — One of the busiest nights of the Signature Series will be Labor Day at the Richwood Fair. Two divisions in both the trot and pace will take place. Both Series leaders will be competing in the Cheney-Krebehenne Trot and the Farrington Pace.

Tattler’s Jet, who regained the lead in the SS Pace at at Van Wert on Saturday, will be in the opposite division as second place Rock Sensation will also have third place Camcoder in his division. The Jet presently leads by eight points heading into the final three events.

The trot side, which has been tight all year, will feature 2005 second place and three-time series champ One Final Time and third place That’s George in the first division. In the second division, SS Trot leader Sugar Free will have a good chance to stretch his lead with a win. Only three points separate the top three places.

The top eight places in each division have the first chance to run at the final race of the year on Jug Day at Delaware. Should any of the top eight decline to race, the spots will open up to the next horses in points until the field is full.

What is on the line?

A cash bonus of $2,000 for first, $1,000 for second and $500 for third will be awarded for each gait to the horse with the most points accumulated during the Signature Series. So these final three races will determine who takes home the bonus for 2005.
