Stable Reductions Lead PEO Sale

Briarcliff Manor, NY – Fast and fresh racehorses were the order of the day at Preferred Equine Online’s Sept. 26 Mixed Sale, as 24 of 30 horses offered were sold in the virtual auction ring for a gross of $686,500.

The sale featured racehorse reductions from Determination and Steacy Racing Stable.

Topping the sale at a final price of $76,000 was a horse consigned by PEO as agent for Determination, the classy Muscle Hill 4-year-old gelding Mycrownmykingdom 4,1:52.4.

He came to auction fresh off a nine-length win on Sept. 21 and was purchased by Thomas Ceraso. Winning is in this trotter’s blood, as his half-sister is none other than $4-million earner Bee A Magician.

“The sale came at an opportune time,” said PEO owner and manager David Reid. “We had several consignors who used this sale to help make room for new purchases as the yearling sales start to get underway. It was solid throughout.”

The Steacy Stable reduction accounted for buys that were next down the list.

The Bettor’s Delight mare Mary Kat p,4,1:51.1 ($179,433) sold to William Hartt for $64,000 and the 3-year-old Explosive Matter filly Illbeneedinstitches 3,1:55.1 sold to Renee Bercury for $62,000.

Both distaffers came to the sale off impressive last-out performances at Woodbine-Mohawk, with Mary Kat finishing second in a Pop-Up Final in 1:51.2 and Illbeneedinstitches taking an impressive gate-to-wire win in a career best 1:55.1.

Racehorses averaged $32,262 and seven in all were hammered down for $42,000 or more. Horses not sold are still listed on the sale page, with “make offer” noted and the asking price for some.

Preferred Equine Online’s next mixed sale is scheduled between the Lexington and Harrisburg sales, on Monday (Oct. 17). Entries are now being accepted at preferredequineonline.com.
