A son of top trotting sire Muscle Mass, The Veteran was a multiple stakes winner during his 2- and 3-year-old seasons and dominated in the New York Sires Stakes program. As a sophomore he established a track record of 1:54.3 at Saratoga winning a NYSS event by nine lengths.

While racing in open competition last year at five, he demolished the track standard at The Red Mile when he won in 1:50.1, shaving more than a second from the previous mark set by Revenue S.
