Trae Porter takes lead in Rosecroft-Freehold driver challenge

Fort Washington, MD – With $1,000 up for grabs to the winner, Trae Porter took a large step forward in trying to win the first ever Rosecroft-Freehold driver challenge on Thursday night (Dec. 15), taking three of the four divisions.

With the wins, Porter stands first with 153 points, Russell Foster, who won a race in the series, is second with 87 points and Declan Donoway third with 74. Eric Abbatiello led the Freehold contingent with 45 points in fourth, followed by Jonathan A(Dec. 17) in the final four races of the driver challenge.

Jonathan Roberts won the featured $17,500 Maryland Exclusive Handicap with Can’t Beach That. It was the 15th win of the year for the Michael Hall trainee, who won for the sixth time at the fall meet at Rosecroft.

Jared Moyer pulled a 30-1 shocker with Tapped Teen for trainer Bib Roberts in the Open 1 level for $15,500. Roberts also sent out his newest acquisition, Danger Zone, in the $13,500 Open 2 level. The 3-year-old handled the off going very well for Jonathan Roberts and is now four for four on the local scene.

Porter won four races overall on the card, while Foster and Roberts won twice. The Jackpot Hi-5 on Tuesday night sits at $30,386.75. Post time is 7:15.
