Trio of Review Stakes contested in Springfield

Springfield, IL — Grand Circuit action continued on Wednesday (Aug. 13) at the Illinois State Fair with a trio of Review Stakes races for 2-year-olds.

In the $35,900 event for trotters, Marion Bowles’ Raja was a wire-to-wire winner in 2:00 for driver/trainer Randal Jerrell. The gelded son of Donato Hanover-Artemisia Ambrosio romped to a 7-1/4 length score over Showmethe Z Tam, with Butterthantherest finishing third.

The $21,450 Little Pat for freshman pacing males was also won in wire-to-wire fashion as Roland R Rock tripped the timer in 1:51.2 with John De Long in the bike for trainer Duane Roland, who shares ownership on the gelding with Connie Roland. The Rocknroll Hanover-Hank’s Chip pacer scored by a widening 13-1/4 lengths over Snoz with DCs Better Life earning the show dough.

In the $18,800 Review Stake for 2-year-old pacing fillies, Bs Tyrichess held off a stubborn Rocknrollgirl to post a head triumph in a time of 1:57. Girls Hunt Too was third, just a half-length behind the winner. Brian Carpenter was in the bike for trainer Christine Buttice behind the Richess Hanover-Fox Valley Tyra miss who is owned by Buttice Stable, Frank Santilli, Green Acres LLC and Mike Klimas.
