Plainville, MA — For the second day in a row, torrential rain and a sloppy track set the stage for participants of racing at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (July 7) afternoon, but it seemed like a walk in the park for Wall Street Edge, who went the mile of his life in a flawless effort to win the $14,000 featured trot.

Brett Beckwith sent Wall Street Edge out like a flash and set up shop on the point, almost before the gate could get out of the way. By the time he hit the quarter, Wall Street Edge had opened up a five length lead during that :27.4 panel and only throttled down minimally to the half, reaching there in :55.4.
McStoned Again (Mitchell Cushing) was tripping-out second from the start and continued to try and keep up, but Wall Street Edge was on a mission to three-quarters in 1:24.2 and by the time he reached the top of the stretch, his lead was extended to three lengths. Heading for home, Wall Street Edge was wrapped-up and cruised home a winner in 1:53.4, which was a new lifetime mark.
It was the fourth win of the year for the heavily favored Wall Street Edge ($3.60), who is owned by Linda Kenney and Robert Kenney, who also trains the winner.
A pair of Massachusetts-bred 3-year-olds won earlier in the day in preparation for their stakes engagements later this year.

The pacing filly Seafood Treasure (Kevin Switzer Jr.) sat a pocket trip behind Always B Winning before drawing clear in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.3. Owned by Seafood Delight Stable and trained by Nick Vamvilis, Seafood Treasure ($5.80) claimed her first career victory to post a career mark.
Then the trotting gelding Brewster Baker (Brad Irvine) went gate to wire while turning back Mcmikenmike (Drew Monti) and holding off the late-closing Essential (Bruce Ranger) to win by a head in 1:56.2. It was the second win in a row for Brewster Baker ($3.20), who is owned by his trainer, Mike Eaton, in partnership with Robert Mc Hugh.
As Mass-breds, both horses will be competing in the Massachusetts Breeders Stakes which start on Monday, September 28.
There was a lucky winner of the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta in race nine. The single unique combination of 9-2-5-6-7 returned $3,770.96 for a 20-cent wager.
Brett Beckwith had the driving hat trick while Mike Eaton scored two as a trainer.
Racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Thursday (July 9) at 4 p.m.
