Meadow Lands, PA –– Is it a case of bad luck or is post position six cursed at the Meadows?
The Meadows has had 81 races in 2005. Yes, it is still early in the racing season, but post position statistics should begin to pan out and show their true percentages. Posts one through seven all have at least eight wins from that position, except for the yellow saddled cloth, post six.
Through the 81 races held at the Meadows, horses leaving from post six have only won once. That lone triumph came from Execujet and Mike Simons, who won a Preferred Pace on January 13.
The one for 81 equals out to a 1.23 winning percentage.
To compare to some other tracks: Meadowlands Racetrack has had 121 races in the New Year and 12 winners have come from post six, a 9.2 winning percentage. Maywood Park, a half-mile track, has had three winners in 54 races, a 5.6 winning percentage. Out of 102 races at Balmoral Park, 11 winners have come from post six, a 10.8 winning percentage.
The future doesn’t look bright either, in the next two racing days at the Meadows: post six is favored only once.
