Dover, DE — Elwood J Blues N was in wire-to-wire form, while Scotian Slick closed from off the pace to win the two $14,500 co-featured races on Saturday, November 27 at Dover Downs. Elwood J Blues N (Frank Milby) crosses the wire first. In the first of the twin features, Elwood J Blues N ripped off fast early fractions and still held on for a 1:53.1 victory for Frank Milby. Owned by former Minnesota Twins manager Tom Kelly, Dominick Rafanelli and Margaret Mancini, the altered son of Sokys Atom staved off several rivals en route to his sixth victory of the year. J T Wood (Brad Hanners) finished second in front of J P Hickory (Ross Wolfenden).

Scotian Slick was a winner in Saturday’s other co-feature.
Scotian Slick, owned by Doris Rice and trained by Bobby Rice, enjoyed a perfect trip behind front-pacing Robert Henry (Jim Morand) for most of the mile before driver Hal Belote moved to the outside at the head of the lane and then owned the stretch in a 1:54.2 victory in the other co-feature. Big Muddy (Tim Curtin) came on to take second with Mackie Boy (Ross Wolfenden) finishing third.
George Dennis used the passing lane to efficiency, guiding Phil Beachamp’s Raisin Land to victory in 1:55.2 in a $10,800 Delaware Pace. Raisin Land just got up at the wire edging Sultan Of Suede (Billy Mann) in the photo. Autotrack (Hal Belote) took show honors.
Joe and JoAnn Thomson’s Toy Dragon won her third in a row and fifth in 10 starts this season as Steve Warrington steered the sophomore daughter of Dragon’s Lair to an uncontested 1:53.4 victory in an $8,500 filly pace. Wide Eyed Wonder (Vic Kirby) was best of the rest with Francy Free (Hal Belote) picking up the third place check.
The longshot of the day was Dean Esham’s Jates The Ticket. Off at 23-1, Eddie Dennis got the Bo Knows Jate gelding into high gear in mid-stretch and streaked past his opponents for a 1:54.2 score. Inner Success N (Mike Cole) and J D Easter Magic (Jim King, Jr.) were second and third respectively.
Esquire Ascot, owned by Freedom Reins Stable, showed his class for trainer-driver Roger Plante, notching a near wire-to-wire, 1:58 triumph in a $6,500 trot. Terminator Spur (Brad Hanners) closed sharply to finish second. A P English (Eddie Davis) annexed third.
