Sacramento, CA — Early morning rain in Sacramento on Saturday, November 27, did not augur for great racing that evening. However, the sun came out in mid-morning, the wind came up, and voila, the track was fast at Cal-Expo in the evening. Super Marc It was made the odds-on public favorite after the Trackman made him the morning line favorite in the program. He drew inside and the field of six high-class conditioned pacers, with $50,000 claimers also eligible, left the gate in post position order. When Gilbert Garcia, who owns, trains and drives Super Marc It, saw no one coming to challenge, he shut the pace down like an eclipse. The opening quarter went in :28.2 and the half in :59.4! After that second quarter revitalization the race was all but over. Rick Kuebler tipped Wilder Echo out first over, but he flattened out in the stretch as Super Marc It rolled to a 1:55.4 win. Slow time for this class as the very next race, which featured $16,000 claimers, went a full second faster. Rick Plano had Ohoka Lazer N on the pylons throughout and he came up the inside to grab second. Bruce Clarke had post two and he took the pocket all around but couldn’t hold off Ohoka Lazer N and settled for third. Tim Maier got Cunning Liar past Wilder Echo for fourth. Super Marc It is an eight-year-old gelding by Cambest out of the Mr Dalrae dam Fancy Rhythm. He has now earned a bit over $61,500 from 34 starts this year, all in California. He was claimed for $50,000 by Erica Plano and will now be trained by her father, Rick Plano.
