There was a short delay in the start of the races for the 128th annual Madison County Fair at London, Ohio on Saturday (July 8) but the trackmen and starter Mike Woebkenberg worked diligently to repair damage caused by one of Mother Nature’s outbursts.

Fair racing conducted in Kentland, Ind.
An enthusiastic crowd at the Newton County Pun’kin Vine Fair at Kentland, Ind., enjoyed nine ISFC races on Saturday (July 8). It was a beautiful day as horsemen enjoyed a full breakfast buffet provided by the Fair Board prior to the 2- and 3-year-old filly and colt trotters and pacers going to the gate at noon.

Noble County Community Fair has successful day of racing
The Noble County Community Fair at Kendallville, Ind. had a successful day of racing on Saturday (July 8). Great weather and 13 2-year-old and 3-year-old colt and filly stakes made for an enjoyable day of entertainment for the many fans in attendance.

Free-legged pacer breaks track record set in 1939
Free-legged pacer Rockme Amadeus stunned the crowd with his record breaking performance on the third-mile oval at the Lee County Fair on Wednesday (July 5).
Rockme Amadeus is owned by Wilda McDanel of Denison, Iowa, and trained by Mark King of Moulton, Iowa. King was in the driver’s seat for the Free For All Pace that went off just before 9 p.m. as the last race of the twilight harness racing program.Rockme Amadeus crossed the wire in 2:03.2. The previous track record was 2:05, set by Jimmy Mokin in 1939.
Both overall track records broken at Marion County Fair
The Marion County Fair at Marion, Ohio, returned to the Ohio fair racing scene this week after an absence of several years. Fifteen races were contested on Monday (July 3) with 18 races on the Tuesday (July 4) card.
Iowa-registered 2-year-olds compete at Humboldt
Local residents and loyal fans made up a vocal crowd at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds where seventy-seven 2-year-olds took to the track for the first weekend of Iowa-registered racing in 2017. Five divisions of 2-year-old pacers competed in the Larry Frakes Memorial, with the fastest winning time of the day taking home the trophy.
Venier Hanover sets track record at Butler Fair
The freshman Well Said gelding Venier Hanover was again the star of the show during action at The Big Butler Fair in this northwest Pennsylvania city. The baby sensation won on Thursday in 2:00.4, obliterating the former divisional track record, set by Skylite’s Falcon in 2012, by 2-3/5 seconds, and coming within two-fifths of a second of the all-age track record, which was first set by the legendary Audie K 25 years ago, and then tied by Star Of Terror one year ago.
