Bloomfield, IA – Fair goers filled the grandstand at Bloomfield, Iowa to partake in the thrill of the evening card of harness racing on Wednesday (July 17).

This Wednesday’s (July 7) $5,000 Signature Series Pace at the Crawford County Fair (post time 6:00 p.m., the first of the two days of racing) has a field of six which includes Ameer Najor’s venerable 14-year-old gelding Southwind Amazon.

The Pennsylvania Fair Circuit swung into the fairgrounds in this north central Pennsylvania borough for its only four-day stand of the year, with 2-year-olds on Sunday (July 14) and Monday (July 15) and 3-year-olds the following two cards. It would be unwieldy to report on 32 heats in one wrap-up story, so this report summarizes the freshman action; after the sophomores have raced, there will be a report on their contests, plus a meet summary.

Friday (July 12) kicked off a big three-day weekend of harness racing excitement at the Keokuk County Fair, held at What Cheer. With carnival rides, foam party, cornhole tournament and other exciting fair activities, the crowd gathered each day at the track to cheer on their favorite horses and drivers.

A trio of Michigan-sired 3-year-olds — Kaa Dee Archie, Guns A Brazen and Forever A Flirt — kept their undefeated seasonal records in Michigan Colt Stakes competition intact through Saturday’s (July 13) Blue Division events at the Barry Expo, in Hastings, Mich.
