Sophomore trotters were featured in $30,000 Circle City events over a sloppy track Thursday (Oct. 19) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, with Tactical Mounds and Scott Zeron taking the spotlight with a 1:53.3 score in the second of two divisions for fillies.

Warrawee Michelle took top honors across three $25,000 Breeders Crown eliminations for 2-year-old trotting fillies, held Thursday (Oct. 19) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, with a 1:53.4 win in the third split. Buy A Round and Drawn Impression captured the other eliminations over a sloppy racing surface.

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Trainer Ake Svanstedt ran his winning streak to nine on Wednesday (Oct. 18) in John Simpson Sr. Memorial races this week at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania by winning three out of three races in which his trainees were entered for the third straight day. There were three Simpson divisions held on Wednesday for both the two-year-old trotting fillies (The Davidia Hanover at $42,970 per split) and the two-year-old pacing fillies (The Razzle Hanover at $35,000 per pop).

Trainer-driver Åke Svanstedt put on another command performance in the John Simpson Sr. Memorial Stakes on Tuesday (Oct. 17) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania. A day after winning with all three of his Simpson starters, Svanstedt swept all three $43,100 Super Bowl divisions, for 2-year old trotting colts and geldings.

Trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt picked up wins in three of the five John Simpson Sr. Memorial stakes races held on Monday (Oct. 16) afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania. Svanstedt’s trainees won two of the three $30,400 splits for 3-year-old trotting fillies (The Elma) and one of two $54,750 divisions of the two-year-old pacing colts and geldings (The Bret Hanover).

Rarely do rivalries live up to the hype in horse racing. Still, on Saturday, the rivalry between Jugette winner Ucandoit Blue Chip and Jugette runner-up Zanatta more than lived up to the hype as the pair scored a dead heat victory in the $100,000 Courageous Lady Stakes at MGM Northfield Park.

Bugaboo Lou became a thorn in the side of 1-9 favorite Confederate through a fast clip. And despite the hot fractions and the persistent pressure Confederate pummeled his peers to post a 1:48.2 victory in the second of two divisions for the $236,000 Tattersalls Pace at The Red Mile on Sunday (Oct. 8).

In a déjà vu effort, Tactical Approach got locked at the pylons but had the red seas of clay open to the inside to give him room to dart and grab the lead in the closing strides of the $450,000 Kentucky Futurity on Sunday (Oct. 8) at The Red Mile.

Last week, Sylvia Hanover one-upped Twin B Joe Fresh with a 1:48.1 effort in their matchup. In separate $115,000 dashes for the Glen Garnsey Memorial on Sunday (Oct. 8), Sylvia Hanover and Twin B Joe Fresh exercised their class to take their respective divisions at The Red Mile.

Carter Pinske’s Tactical Landing pupil Mommamia Volo has blossomed over The Red Mile through her sophomore season and stamped herself a division staple after pulling an 11-1 upset in the Kentucky Sires Stakes final. On Sunday (Oct. 8), she added a classic Grand Circuit victory to her card with an authoritative 1:51.3 charge to victory in the $320,000 Kentucky Filly Futurity.
