Dover, DE — Kevin Sizer drove Just Like Sam to a 1:53.2 victory in the Thursday, December 30 feature race to close out the 2004 portion of the Dover Downs meet. Eddie Davis had a driving quadruple during the card. Starting from the rail in a $25,000 claiming allowance proved to be an advantage to Arty Foster, Jr.’s Just Like Sam, who enjoyed a perfect trip en route to his second straight and fourth win of the meet. The seven-year-old altered son of Nobleland Sam entered the winner’s circle for the ninth time in 2004 beating Shotaway N (George Dennis) and Blue Orient A (Ross Wolfenden).
Vic Kirby found room late in the stretch to get up in 1:55.3 in winning a $9,500 three, four and five-year-old pace.
Ray Martin’s Dream-A-While won a $9,000 three, four and five-year-old pace for trainer-driver Art Stafford, Jr. Noni N (Dylan Davis) finished second and Bay Express N (Steve Warrington) was third.
Eddie Davis, a nine-time leading driver at the track, won four races starting with both halves of a Davis owned, trained and driven daily double.
In the double, Davis guided Redneck Bubba to victory in 1:59.2 to win a Delaware trot. He completed the mission steering Congo Flame N to a 1:57.1 score.
Davis later won a $7,800 Delaware trot with 6-1 shot AP English, waiting until the last race day of the year to win for the first time this season. D’Amico Cucina (Ross Wolfenden) finished second in front of Bold Print (Jim Morand).
Davis’ fourth win came driving Johnny Wiate’s Allraessignofglory to victory in 1:56.3 to win a Delaware $10,000 claiming pace. Shooters Tour (Wayne Truitt) cut out the mile and finished second. Fox Valley Wannabe (Travis Bowman) was third.
