Brett Bonin, the chief prosecutor for the Louisiana Racing Commission and Assistant Attorney General, is the new chair of the ARCI Regulatory Attorneys Committee.

The schedule for the 2023-24 district meetings has been released by the U.S. Trotting Association. USTA members are encouraged to attend their district meeting where they will be given the opportunity to discuss the 32 suggested USTA rule change proposals and hear timely information on a variety of topics specific to their district. 

Work has begun on the 2024 Ohio Standardbred Stallion Directory. Ohio stallion owners wishing to have their stallions listed in the directory must complete the registration form that is available on the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association website.

Long time regulatory veterinarian and now Executive Director of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, Dr. John Chancey is the new Chair of the Drug Testing Standards and Practices Committee of the Association of Racing Commissioners International (ARCI).

Richard L. “Dick” Neff, 95, died unexpectedly on Oct. 13, 2023, surrounded by his family following an unforeseen surgical complication.

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association is currently accepting nominations for its fourth annual Caretaker of the Year award.

Ross M. Perry, 68, died Oct. 22, 2023, after a short illness at Noyes Hospital in Dansville, N.Y.

Sagebrush, 24, the 2016 Illinois Pacing Stallion of the Year, died Oct. 24 at his longtime home at the University of Illinois Horse Farm, in Urbana, Ill.

Nicholas Anthony Cirillo, 88, of The Bronx, N.Y., died Oct. 22, 2023, at his home, with his family by his side.
